Tentative Agreement Reached With

Kankakee County Treasurer's Office

In an 11 th hour Mediation session with the Kankakee County Treasurer's office, Laborer's Local 751 reached a tentative agreement. "It was a fair agreement for everyone." Stated Michael W. Smith, Local 751 Business Manager. The Group was organized over a year and half ago and have been bargaining the whole time. Local 751 held several rallies and picketed in front of the Treasures' Office, County Board and other places. The members at the Treasurers' office voted to send the County a strike notice.

Rachael Abraham, Steward at the Treasurers Office was very happy with the tentative agreement. "We ended up with about everything we asked for!" Business Manager praised the group for their solidarity and fighting for a good contract. "I can't say enough about the group and their support, they proved you can fight and win!!!!!!"
